SPP 2170 - Mechanistic Modelling and Simulation Workshop by Prof. Heiko Briesen & Prof. Andreas Kremling, TUM

Workshop at School of Life Sciences, TUM for SPP 2170 'InterZell' PhD students

Biotechnological production processes help to increase the growing demand for amino acids, food or basic chemicals. However, experience and knowledge of existing production processes alone are no longer enough. With the help of computer models, it is already possible to make predictions about important parameters that can be used to model and predict an effective process. These questions  were the subject of the ‘Mechanistic Modelling’ workshop at TUM for the ‘InterZell’ doctoral students to learn about and discuss.

Modelling and simulations can be challenging, but also surprisingly helpful. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heiko Briesen, TUM School of Life Sciences and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Kremling, TUM School of Engineering and Design, showed how modelling cellular systems and the case study of a continuous fermenter help to understand the basic behaviour of dynamic models.

Many thanks to Heiko and his team as well as to Andreas for the exciting workshop and the excellent atmosphere for networking. And particular thanks to Charlotte Deffur for her great job!
